Obituary

Kennis Lewis Haynes was born on June 16, 1940 to Felmon and Velma Haynes in Louisville, MS.

Kennis attended Noxpater High School. At the age of 18, he got a job working construction with his dad. Shortly after, he moved to the city of East St. Louis, IL, where he met Rosie Mae Binford. They married in 1970.

Kennis was employed with American Car Foundry of St. Louis, MO for 17 years. He then went on to work for Bidwell Cloth Factory where he later retired.

In the early 90's, Kennis joined Greater Liberty Church of God In Christ where he was a faithful member. He also drove the church van and was dedicated to serve.

Kennis loved spending time with family and having Sunday dinners with his sisters. He enjoyed fishing and watching his favorite basketball team, the Lakers play. He also enjoyed watching Gun Smoke and Family Feud.

Kennis was preceded in death by his wife, Sister Rosie Mae Binford; parents, Felmon and Velma Haynes; his son, A.B. Binford; five brothers, Floyd Triplett, Lloyd Haynes, Doyle Haynes, Willis Haynes, Carl Haynes; sister, Dorris Triplett.

Kennis Lewis Haynes of East Saint Louis, IL transitioned from life on Earth on September 18, 2023 . He leaves to cherish his loving memories his children, Jerry "Cliff" Harrington (Pamela) of Louisville, MS; daughter, Daria Coleman of Granite City, IL; and McArthur Binford of East St. Louis, IL; two grandchildren, Dasha and Jerrell Harrington of Louisville, MS; two great-grandchildren, Jaira and Zylon of Louisville, MS; six sisters, Essie Powe Head of East St. Louis, IL, Velma Liddell of O'Fallon, IL, Ethel Hopkins of O'Fallon, IL , Evon Haynes-Roberson of Louisville, MS, Erma Millard (Samuel) of Cahokia Heights, IL, and Delores Thomas (Gerald) of Powder Springs, GA; one brother, Almon Haynes (Maggie) of Louisville, MS; sister-in-law, Willie Lee Triplett of Louisville, MS; three brother-in-laws, Ed Spates of O'Fallon, IL, Frank Spates of Chicago, IL and Joe Henry of Milwaukee, WI; longtime friend, James Ingram of Louisville, MS; a host of nieces and nephews that loved him.
