Obituary

Education : Finished 8th grade; attending Carver and Garfield Grade schools. No high school diploma. Uncle read Crime Novels monthly; worked Giant Number and Word Puzzle Books fanatically. Vocabulary and math skills were questionable; well you know Mr. Kenny could count that money without a calculator. 8th grade education, awesome math skills.

Armed Services: 1954 - Caramel skin; 6'1, 175 lbs, big smile. Royal Air Forces station in Croughton, England. Signed up to be trained as Air Fighter, but serviced in Supplies, disposal of obsolete equipment. Recruited by the Air Force Ping Pong team and traveled to compete over England. He was also on the Swim team.

Financial Management: Mr. Kenny was a hustler (resourceful, and found ways to make money). He ran a little mini-mart on in E2 selling cigarettes, papers, soda, can beer, cigars, etc. Customers didn't have to leave the building. And, Pay Day Loans! Uncle Kenneth rode a bicycle for 1 year, collecting empty aluminum cans and cleaning red bricks, to buy his first car in 1965. He was tight with his dollars. He said, "There's always something a person can do to make some money." At age 79, he owned a 2002 RAM fishing truck, 1993 Anniversary Series Corvette, 1999 C-Class Mercedes, 2010 Ford F150, 1979 Lincoln, and a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero all at the same time. He would rent them out occasionally. He eventually sold all but the Mercedes and F150.

Old Skool Blue Lover: Favorites....Laverne Baker, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Little Milton, John Lee Hooker, Marvin Sease, and many more.

Family & Housing Community Service: Food pantry activity...picking up at the Pantry every Wednesday. Giving and delivering meats, chicken, pork steaks, vegetables and other "good stuff" to his family and housing community family. Kenny shared because he knew the ladies that cooked would deliver "good ole food" to him. Thank you to the ladies that kept him fed. He loved your homemade cooking. He embraced the soul food and appreciated every meal.

Active Living: Dressed in coveralls and fishing cap, truck equipped with fishing rods and tackle gear, the Fisherman caught Buffalo and catfish. Sold some, gave some away. A special pastime alone with his fishing buddies at Horse Shoe Lake or Carlyle Lake.
