Kathleen
Harrison
Oct 8, 1951 — Nov 10, 2023
Kathleen Harrison was born on October 8, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri at the People's Hospital to the union of Earl and Inelle Harrison, who preceded her in death. Kathleen entered this life as an identical twin. She was affectionately known as "Kat" or "Kat 2."
During childhood, Kathleen was an active member of the Davis Temple African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church where she confessed a hope in Christ. She was baptized as a youth and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. Kathleen joined Parks Chapel (AME) Church when the two church congregations merged. One of her happiest and proudest moments was the birth of her son, Toraino Aldre (Rick) Muhammad. He was quickly nicknamed "Rick" for his resemblance to a television actor. The omnipotent God blessed Kathleen with three granddaughters, Chanel, Ayah, Ameerah, and grandson, Nadir.
After graduating from East Saint Louis Senior High School in 1969, Kathleen began her professional career with Cass Bank in St. Louis, Missouri. Thereafter, she enrolled at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (SIUE) with aspirations of becoming a psychologist. With her mother's encouragement, she became gainfully employed with the Department of the Army as a Troop Readiness Command Staffer until her early retirement.
Given life's interruptions, Kathleen sacrificed many career aspirations to embrace her family's demands as a Servant Leader. She was a nurturing daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and incomparable caregiver. She was an authentic joy to know even as she delighted in family, friends, music, fashion, decorating, and the great outdoors.
In later years, she settled in Texas due to her son's job relocations. However, she finally returned to Indiana, where she fell asleep on Thursday, November 9, 2023 and reunited with her mother and father in heaven.
Awaiting the Gathering Together in the prophesied Return of Christ, Kathleen leaves to cherish her memory a son, Toraino Muhammad; granddaughters Chanel, Ayah, and Ameerah; grandson, Nadir; daughter-in-law, Shantana; her twin sister, Kathryn; brother-in-law, Bennie Phillips, Jr.; niece, Asha; nephews, Bennie III and Colin; sister, Leticia Harrison; niece, Kayla; dear friends, Vivian McDonald and Stanley Wiley; aunts, beloved cousins, friends and colleagues.
