Robinson
Jun 3, 1949 — Jul 26, 2022
Johnnie Lee Robinson, Sr., 73, of Belleville, Illinois was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 3, 1949 to the late Bertha Robinson (Broaden) and Charlie Robinson, Sr.
He received his education through Cahokia School District #187. He was an intelligent, inquisitive and alert student and excelled at the long jump in track and field. He graduated from Cahokia Senior High School and Harris-Stowe State University obtaining a Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education and later earning his Master of Arts in Education.
"Johnnie Robb", as he affectionately known to his many friends, accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. One June 20, 2022, he rededicated his life to Christ.
Mr. Johnnie Robinson, Sr. was employed at many jobs. The Illinois State Police Department, Centreville Illinois Police Department, where he created the format for writing police reports, Nestle in Granite City, Illinois and other employments. His last job was an Elementary School Teacher in the St. Louis Public School District, where he retired.
"Robb", as we all called him; hobbies included fishing, boating, traveling, watching the evening news and sports, (especially track and field) and listening to all kinds of music. "Shot" (as he was sometimes called) loved people and delighted in humorous banter and repartee, laughing and joking; however he was the true testament of a life of bounty and blessing; first to serve, first to assist, first to give back and first to pay it forward.
On December 24, 1967, he married Oberlin Clay. There were four children from this marriage, Janice Robinson, John Robinson (deceased), Duane Robinson, and Elton Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was later united with Leola Lilton and from this marriage there were four children, Kristi Westbrook, Tamara Thomas, Antraneshia Robinson, and Johnnie Robinson, III.
In 2008, he met Anita Hunter and they became soulmates. They enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She will also cherish his memories.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Charlie Robinson Sr., mother, Mrs. Bertha Broaden, son, Johnnie Robinson, Jr., brothers, Ronald Robinson and Nathaniel Broaden, and grandson, Damian Conners, Jr.
