Mrs. Jerolene (Nelson) May was born February 21, 1932 to the union of Joe Nelson and Mary Ollie Griggs. She was preceded in death by her father Joe Nelson, mother, Mary Ollie Griggs, husband, Percy L. May Sr., daughter, Patsy A. May, brothers, Leon McCree, John Winston, and Earnest Nelson Sr., and sister, Alice Hill.

Jerolene was born and raised in Brookhaven, MS. She graduated from Alexandra High School where she was a stand out member of the girl' basketball team.

Jerolene (Mother May) gave her life and talents to Christ at an early age. She has been a faithful member of Greater New Bethel Church for over 6 decades. She was a choir member and worked with the Pastor's Aid and finished out as a member of the Mother's Board. She was always ready to lend a helping hand when it came to preparing and serving of food at the church.

She always had time for her family and friends. All her grandchildren knew she loved them very much. If they got in trouble at school, Grandma Jerri would show up to help get them back on track.

Jerolene May departed this life on December 23, 2022 . She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Patricia Murphy, Percy L. May Jr. (Karen), Rickey L. May (Lanita), Laura Green, Marie Sanders (Earvin), James E. May (Jan) and Cynthia May; sister, Eunice Pitre; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
