Mr. James Alfred "Bro" Williams was born on June 14, 1950 in Fairfield, Alabama to the union of Albert Williams, Jr and Rosie Anderson-Williams. James was the second oldest child born to this union. Both parents and two brothers, Arnett and Darnell preceded him in death.
Bro confessed a hope in Christ several years ago and united with Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M.R. Lemons. Through the years Bro was a frequent guest at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Although born in Alabama, Bro grew up in East St. Louis and Centreville, Illinois. He graduated from Cahokia Senior High School in 1968. He went on to attend SIU Edwardsville for three years and studied business administration. Bro later became employed at Granite City Steel from which he retired.
Bro was a skilled worker and had a natural talent for building furniture and home construction. He was a self taught plumber and electrician. He built two additional rooms to his mother's home.
Bro loved sports and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. Bro excelled in high school sports, football and track. Bro loved social gatherings with family and friends. Holidays were always a special occasion with him. He was a person well loved by family and friends.
Bro united in matrimony with Miss Carol Griffin and to that union one child was born, Ms. Jacaria Williams.
Mr. James Alfred Williams departed this life on November 15, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memories a dear wife, Ms. Carol Williams; two children, Mr. Jason Nickerson of Belleville, IL, Ms. Jacaria Williams; step daughters, Ms. Sherita Winfrey of Cahokia Heights, IL and Ms. Makya Montgomery; two sisters, Sue Gilkey and Mrs. Shirley Wade, and one brother, Mr. Joe (Tarnaisha) Williams, special nieces, Ms. Keneisha Williams, Ms. Kiara Williams, and Ms. Brytnei Wade, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
