James Edward
Jones
Feb 5, 1945 — Nov 2, 2024
James Edward Jones was born on February 5, 1945 in Marianna, Arkansas to Eliza and Frank Jones, who preceded him in death. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
James was formerly educated in the St. Louis Public School System.
He confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri under the leadership of Rev. Jodie Nevils, Sr.
James
was united in holy matrimony to the late Betty Jones, to this union two children were born, a daughter, Janice and son, James, Jr.
James
served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War period as a US Army, PFC. In addition to his service in the Military, he worked at the United States Post Office as a mail handler for over 30 years until he retired in 2001.
James
loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them creating memories. He would often say a word or half of a word to express his feelings. If you've been around him and engaged in conversation with him, then you know the word he would often use. He found solace in the simple pleasures of life; watching Western movies, getting his hands manicured, eating cookies and drinking coffee, watching his favorite football team, Kansas City Chiefs, sitting outside in his daughters backyard, and sharing stories.
James
leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving daughter Janice Harris, son James, Jr; his beloved sister Eddie Jean Jones; two granddaughters, Sarah and Jessica Harris; two great-grandsons Tristan and Gabriel, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends whom he loved dearly.
