Belleville
World War 1 started the summer of 1914. On October 8, 1915 , a series of events related to the war occurred world wide including the birth of James L. Harris . President Woodrow Wilson was serving his first term in office. He was born to the union of Ed Harris and Carrie Wakefield Harris in Little Rock, Arkansas. To this union six children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings, 3 brothers and two sisters, one daughter, Erma White, one son, James Harris, 4 step-sons, 1 step-daughter and three wives, Freddie Mae, Rosetta and Gloria
James grew up and attended school in Helena, Arkansas. He was taught to love the Lord and he confessed his hope in Christ at an early age. He was also taught to work hard and that he did, in the fields, picking cotton then moving to factory work at the Chicago Mill. James was also a farmer.
In 1999, James moved to East St. Louis, Illinois to be closer to his family. He united with Galilee Central Baptist Church. He attended faithfully until his health did not permit him to do so. He loved spending time with his family and traveling. James, ( big time playboy ) also loved to talk to women.
James lived through many of life's events that his 100 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren will only read about.
On the morning of Sunday, March 25, 2018 , the Lord dispatched his angels to bring James home for his eternal rest. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories, three daughters, Lottie Nickerson, U.Dee (Woodrow) House and Rosetta Harris; 100 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
