Obituary

Henry Thomas "T-Harper" Harper Sr. was born on December 13, 1933 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family and community.

Henry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge after his military service in 1952. He later dedicated more than 20 years of service to the City of East St. Louis, where his commitment, dependability, and strong work ethic earned the respect of coworkers and community members alike.

Affectionately known as "T-Harper," Henry was a man whose kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who took great pride in his family. His love, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Henry's legacy is one of dedication, integrity, perseverance, and unconditional love. His life reminds us that true greatness is measured by the lived we touch through service, compassion, and commitment to others. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his three sons, Laura Harper; his son, John Harper; his daughter, Theresa Johnson; his brothers, Sam Harper and Norvell Harper.

Henry departed this life on July 15, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Henry Thomas Harper Jr. (Mechelle) of Fairview Heights, IL, Gregory Harper of East St. Louis, IL, and Marjorie Macklin of East St. Louis, IL; grandchildren, Keya Lester (Halisi) of Shiloh, IL, Dawn Harper Nelson (Alonzo) of O'Fallon, IL, Demarcus Anderson of Belleville, IL, Shivani Harper of Cedar Rapids, IA, Shiven Harper of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Bryton Harper of Iowa City, IA; his brother, Charles Harper of East St. Louis, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
