Gregory Ross was born on September 4, 1952 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Thomas Ross and Clara Patterson-Ross. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late James Wings at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.

Gregory received his education from School District #189 and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School.

Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ross and Clara Patterson-Ross. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Amelia, and brothers, Thomas Jr., James (Jimmy), and Erskine.

Gregory departed this life on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 4:26 a.m. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Edna Ross-Wheelis, Elousie Garth; nieces, Carmen Garth, Pamela Wheelis-Perry (Michael); nephews, Delvon Jenkins, Reginald Garth, along with many grand nieces, nephews, and cousins.
