Gregory Powers Sr. was born on May 28, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri to Dillard Powers Sr. and Ada Vivian (Marshall) Powers. Gregory confessed a hope in Christ uniting with Mount Sinai Church.

Gregory graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1986. He later joined the Navy in 1987.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents Ada and Dillard Powers Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dillard Powers, Jr.

His life endeavors included many talents and jobs. He was a U.S. Navy aviation mechanic, certified H-VAC Technician, and a troubleshooter at Empire Store Co. His most enjoyable moments was at the barbecue grill, fishing with his sons, and Rock & Roll music. He often enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Gregory was loved by all. His passions were fast cars, grilling and entertaining.

Gregory departed this life on March 9, 2023 . He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Gregory Jr. and Greylin Powers; grandson, Royal Powers; four sisters, JoAnn Taylor, Jennie Powers, Donna Powers-James of Belleville, IL, and Hilda Powers of East St. Louis, IL; special friends, Donna Johnson and Robert James; a host of nieces and nephews.
