Mrs. Gladys Olympia Wilson was born in Marianna, Arkansas on Ohio on July 16, 1921 to Henderson and Mamie Newsome. She has been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, John, Samuel, Edward, Carl and James, three sisters, Marjorie Moore, Alma Louise Manzy and Lorraine Washburn and three grandchildren. As a young girl, Gladys confessed a hope in Christ.
The family moved to Collinsville, Illinois in 1922 and then in 1932, they moved to the Madison-Venice area. Gladys married Ira Wilson in 1939. She loved to help people and found employment as a nurses's aide. In her leisure time, Gladys loved to read. When her health declined, Gladys move to Omaha, Nebraska to live with her daughter. This is where she was, when she made her transition on May 24, 2017 surrounded by family.
She leaves to cherish her memory 9 children, John, Leon (Marilyn) and Wendell Wilson of Illinois, Gladys Alexander and Linda Makins of Omaha, NB, Ralph (Barbara) Williams of Missouri and Darlene (Robert) Williams, Juanita (Ronnie) Walker and Mary Feliciano of Florida; 34 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Oletha Juanita Moore and Wilma Jean Dandridge of Illinois; numerous other relatives and friends.
