Geraldine
Walker
Aug 25, 1934 — Nov 30, 2024
Geraldine Frances (Hill) Walker, affectionately known as Geri, was a beacon of love, faith, and inspiration to all who knew her. Born on August 25, 1934 in East St. Louis, IL to Maggie (Fletcher) and Dr. Miles Dewey Davis Sr., of her four siblings, Thelma (Hill) Rollins, Gladys (Hill) Evans, Miles Dewey Davis Jr., and Vernon N. Davis, all who preceded her in death but one, her beloved brother, Joseph Haynes Davis of Orlando, Florida.
Geri graduated from Lincoln Senior High School on January 24, 1952. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, laying the foundation for life filled with faith and service.
On September 23, 1957, Geri married the love of her life, Earl Walker, who preceded her in death April 3, 1999. Together they built a beautiful life and welcomed four children, Kim Anita, Keith Earl, Nichelle Renee, and Cheryl Lynn. Their bond of love extended beyond their family, shaping their shared vision for success and community impact.
In 1965, Geri and Earl embarked on a business journey, founding Walker's Royal CO., which later became Walker Royal, Inc. Their contract cleaning business blossomed into a thriving corporation with locations across the country, including East St. Louis, IL, St. Louis County, MO, Rock Island, IL, Decatur, IL, Davenport, IA, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, CA. Their achievements were celebrated widely, including features in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat in 1975 and being awarded the Howard B. Woods Entrepreneur Of The Year Honor by the St. Louis Sentinel Newspaper in 1979.
Geri's heart was rooted in her faith and community. She was a devoted member of Unity Lutheran Church in East St. Louis, IL where she served on the church council, shared her angelic voice in the choir, and generously supported the Church's mission. She also sang with her daughter Nichelle in the Westbrook Green Choir. Her dedication and faith remained unwavering, even as her health began to decline.
To her family, Geri was far more than a mother and grandmother. She was their foundation, guiding light, and their source of endless love. "Mom" or "Grammy" as her grandchildren lovingly called her, had a heart of gold and so full of generosity that she became a surrogate mother to many. Whether it was nieces, nephews, or friends, she opened her heart and home to all who needed her care.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her family: one son, Keith Earl (Racquel) Walker of San Diego, CA; 3 daughters, Cheryl Lynn Walker-Watts of Shawnee, KS, Nichelle Renee (Clifford) Malloyd of Fairview Heights, IL and Kim Anita Walker; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Barry Malloyd of St. Louis, MO, Brandon Keith Malloyd of St. Louis, MO, Nicholas Ryan Malloyd of Belleville, IL, Nakia Renee Malloyd of Collinsville, IL and Geneva Lynn Walker Watts of Shawnee, KS; 5 great-grandchildren, Ca'Niya B. Malloyd, Kingston A. R. Malloyd, Kamryn X. Malloyd, Dakota L. S. Malloyd, and Nas Jeremiah Malloyd; one brother, The Honorable Joseph Haynes Davis or Orlando, FL.
Geri's life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and perseverance. She was a remarkable woman who gave selflessly to her loved ones and community. Her radiant spirit, kindness, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
