Obituary

Georgia Mae Nicholson began her earthly story on November 11, 1946 in Shuqualak, Mississippi, born to the union of Tom Hyde and Ida Mae Sanders. She was raised in East St. Louis, Illinois by her mom and stepfather Mr. Robert and Mrs. Ida Mae Sanders.

Georgia accepted Christ at an early age under the tutelage of her cousin Rev. Teddy Ward who preceded her in death. She continued her spiritual journey at St. Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Rod Little. She graduated from Lincoln Senior High School.

In 1969, Georgia married the love of her life Mr. Franklin Nicholson. Together they raised their only son, Sherman (Pete) Nicholson whom they loved dearly. They also helped and raised a bonus daughter, Nita P. Williams.

Georgia and Frank began their entrepreneurship with a supermarket called F&G which was named after the two lovebirds in the Southend. Later they launched a store called Pete's PKG Liquor which was named after their son in Washington Park. Georgia was loved by many in the Washington Park Community. She helped many residents so much that later she became a Trustee of Canteen Township in Washington Park.

Georgia was very family oriented. Shen enjoyed gospel music, blues, R&B, cooking, Bingo, playing cards, Casinos, and her favorite TV shows, Family Feud, Golden Girls, Martin, and of course anything with Tyler Perry.

Georgia never met a stranger. Family and friends always felt welcome in her home. She was the best big sister to Eric and Penny whom she loved. Together they have so many loveable memories.

Georgia made sure all eight of her grandkids knew each other. She even raised two as her own, Tasha and Jerome. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and going to dinner with her dedicated caregivers, Andre, Tasha Andrionna, and family pet, Kingston, whom will miss her dearly.

Her last request was for Tasha to hold her hand and release her to God's angels. Georgia is released from her earthly duties and is now holding onto God's unchanging hand.

Georgia leaves behind to cherish her memories : five granddaughters, Tasha (Andre) Fulton, Kenya Nicholson, Ieshia (Vere) Coleman, Ormeka Elem, and LaKeisha Nicholson; three grandsons, Jerome Williams, Sherman Nicholson, Jr., and Charles Franklin; 6 special great-granddaughters, Andrionna Fulton, Tarjayee, Madjaee, Taliahyiah, Teijiriah, and Liala; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Eric Sanders; sister, Maria (Kelvin) Sanders; a bonus special daughter, Nita P. Williams; 2 sisters-in-law, Janice and Varrie Nicholson; and a host of cousins and sister friends whom she loved dearly.
