Mr. Gary Mims was born on March 19, 1955 in Alton, Illinois to Leander Mims and Edna Metts. Gary received his Heavenly wings on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home in East St. Louis, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leander Mims, his mother, Edna Metts, two sisters, Cynthia "Snow" Gailes and Taurus Ingram and dear friend, Beverly.
He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. Gary visited various churches throughout the community. As his health started failing, he would worship through television media.
Gary attended East St. Louis Public School Dist. #189 and State Community College. He worked for Mitch Murch and had other various jobs.
Gary "Bone" was well known by many throughout the city of East St. Louis and surrounding cities. He had a unique sense of humor. He loved to crack jokes, making people laugh. He loved to dance. He also loved his fancy style of clothing.
Gary was known mostly for his expertise and his love for music. He was a self made entertainer. He was born with a gift to master play any instrument he encountered. From a guitar, piano, organ to a harmonica, Gary could play, sing, and had showmanship to accommodate all eras of generations from the 60's Jimmy Hendrix, Temptations to Twista, Mystikal. His favorite artist, Bone Thugs N Harmony.
Gary leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Gary Gavins of Belleville, IL; his sister, Connie (Arthur) Page of Cahokia, IL, two brothers, Darnell Metts and Galen Metts of East St. Louis, IL; dear friends, Markes Pruitt and Vanessa Outlaw, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
