Everline Barksdale was born on May 26, 1940 in Belzoni, Mississippi to the union of Dave Lockett Sr. and Wealthie Lee Lockett. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age.

Everline attended Lincoln Sr. High School. She united in wedlock to Lennel Barksdale Sr. They later divorced.

Everline was a caring and gentle woman. She was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed reading her Bible. She was a very nonchalant, behind-the-scenes kind of person. She was very clairvoyant had a sense of knowing things before they happened. She would always say, "I had a feeling," "Yeah, I thought about that," or "That crossed my mind."

Everline is preceded in death by her father, Dave Lockett, Sr.; her mother, Wealthie Lee Lockett; her daughter, Serita Lockett; sisters, Annie McClatchery and Erma Lee Lockett, and her brother, Dave Lockett, Jr.

Everline departed this life on July 30, 2022 . She is survived by one sister, Frankie Powell; her daughter, Wealthie Rochelle Lockett-Simmons; her sons Kennel Kem Barksdale (Yolanda), Jonathan Eric Barksdale, Lennel Lenny Barksdale, Jr., (Nancy) and Nathan Keith Barksdale; grandchildren, Karkisha, Chennel, Che'Myra, Ivana, Charrell (Jermaine), Asti, LaRonda, Reginald Jr. (Shaela), Darrell, Elijah, Lennel III, Joshua and Noah; cherished nephew Ivan DeShawn Lockett; great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
