Evan Paul
Owens-Hood
Oct 27, 1981 — Oct 20, 2024
Evan Paul Owens was born October 27, 1981 , to Eva Nelle Dowell and Eric (Owens) Hood. He was welcomed into the world by his older siblings, Stacy, Shem Meshawn and Kiona.
Evan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow Hood, Rena Patricia, Louis Dowell, Sr., and Katie Dowell.
Evan was a fun-loving, mischievous child. He had what seemed to be an extreme case of the terrible twos. At the time his favorite word was "mines." Whatever he would grab a hold of he would possessively exclaim, "Mines." As a child, Evan loved playing board games like Clue and Monopoly. As an adult, he graduated to more complex games like Chess.
Evan attended Columbus Grade School, Cahokia Senior High School, and SIUE. Evan worked as a machinist. He received his electrician certificate from Vatterott College.
Evan had a strong interest in photography and music. As a toddler, he would go and find every pot and pan he could and bang on them as an extended playtime activity. This was his musical start. Spending time with his extended family was one of his favorite activities. Growing up, Evan and his cousins would put on a concert every holiday which included dance routines, makeshift instruments, and performing the latest R&B or Rap hits. Evan often reminisced of his time growing up in Collinsville, Edwardsville, Cahokia, and watching movies at the Cottonwood Mall.
Evan had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. In one of his last conversations, he expressed, "There is no need to worry, because we already know how this ends. We've already won."
Evan departed this life on October 20, 2024 . He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Eva Nelle Dowell; father, Eric Hood; brother, Shem Meshawn Deberry; sisters, Stacy Bowers, Kiona Hood-Fuller, and Eva Lanine Dowell; nephew, Travis Bowers, Landon Fuller, and Logan Fuller; many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
