Obituary

Edward Taylor was born on March 30, 1926, in Steel, MO to the union of Warren Taylor & Lou Ervin-Taylor. He was the eldest of 7 children. His parents and 6 siblings, Jesse West, Juanita Turner, Bertha King, Ulrich Taylor, Virgie Chambers, and Ella Mae Williams, all preceded him in death.

Edward was lovingly known as "Pee-Wee", "Pete", "Pops", "Papa", and "Grandpa Pee-Wee" by many family and friends.

Edward graduated from Lincoln High School, where he was a star quarterback. He was one of the first blacks to receive a full ride to attend Lincoln University College. From his words, "I was a little guy those college dudes weren't going to take me down. I'd rather work." Everyone that knows him knows he loves money. Edward retired from the Missouri Athletic Club in Milwaukee, WI. He was also a tailor; he would make the most of his clothing. He was especially known for his stylish dashikis paired with a matching hat.

Before Edward went to his last resting place, he was a resident at Autumn Meadow Nursing Home in Cahokia, Illinois, where he was loved by many, including his best friends, Corey Walker. He rarely sat alone for long, as people were always drawn to his room to hear one of his stories and leave with a smile or they went to debate so that he could tell them to get out. Most got a kick out of being thrown out of his room. They are now asking who's going to be around to kick me out? While smiling when asking.

Edward leaves to cherish his memory his 2 daughters, 4 sons, which 2 of his sons precede him in death. He leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces (Carol Williams) and a host of cousins and friends.

Edward's voice, personality, and funny facial expressions will stay in our hearts forever. To know him is to LOVE him.
