Mr. Edward James Goodwin was born on November 29, 1953 , in Macon, Mississippi to the union of Mr. Charles Edward Goodwin and Ms. Rena Bell Jackson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Rena Bell Goodwin-Samuels, stepfather, Mr. George Samuels, and father, Mr. Charles Edward Goodwin.
Edward was baptized in 1966 by Pastor Ernest Davis at New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Edward grew into manhood in Centreville, Illinois where he attended Cahokia Senior High School. Later, Edward graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice, and joined the Alorton Police Department at 21, where he was also certified as a sharpshooter. He furthered his career by joining Touchette Regional Hospital staff (formerly Centreville Hospital) as Head of Security for many years. Later, Edward embarked upon a new career with Terminal Railroad. Finally, he returned to security with ABC Auto Auction, where he retired in October 2020.
Edward was a talented guitarist who sang and recorded with various gospel groups. Edward was also a devoted member and bass guitarist for Jeremiah Baptist Church. He loved to fish, crack jokes, and get a little "tipsy". He was indeed a rough rider who enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles.
On December 21, 1997 , Edward married the love of his life, Jennifer L. Jones and to this union, one daughter, Rena Le'Rose Goodwin was born.
Edward departed this life , Thursday, August 18, 2022 . Beautiful memories will be cherished by his wife, Jennifer L. Goodwin; daughter, Rena Le'Rose (The twinkle is his eye, often referred to as "Boo Boo"); and four sons, Mario (Amber), Darren, Willie, (Natasha), and Marcus II; three sisters, Charlene (Charles), Emma Jean, and Beverly (Gregory); three brothers, Michael Sr., Allen (Marie) and Anthony (Meka); eight grandchildren, Darriana, Skylah, Xaria, Grant, Ka'Ron, Osias, and Odin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
