Dorothy Marie Green Conner was the oldest daughter of Robert and Priscilla Green, both deceased. She was born on May 26, 1928 in the city of Mounds, Illinois.
She departed this life on September 4, 2017 at the age of 89.
Dorothy professed a hope in Christ at the age of fourteen years old; was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. J. Sullivan.
She attended Bethel Grade School and graduated from Douglas High School in 1946. After graduation, she went to work at the Colored Public Library until she met and married S/Sgt Forrest S. Conner in 1947. To this union was born five (5) children—2 girls and 3 boys. Forrest preceded her in death.
Dorothy loved church school and B.T.U. She was always a secretary at one time or another. She had certificates as ward clerk and CNA from State Community College.
She leaves to celebrate her passing, two daughters, Darissa Conner and Edith Mitchell both of East St. Louis, IL; three sons, Forrest S. Conner, Jr of East St. Louis, IL, Lloyd Conner and Kelvin Conner both of St. Louis, MO; 1 stepdaughter, Martha Vinson of Calumet City, IL; play daughter, Letrice Young of Fairview Heights, IL; 1 sister, Birdie (James) Allen of Brown Deer, WI; four grandchildren, Robert, Sylvia, Candace and Cassandra; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and Fannie Wayne, adopted daughter.
