Doris
Cason
Mar 2, 1933 — Oct 9, 2023
Doris Nevada (Pearson) Cason was born March 2, 1933, to the union of Creola and Luther Pearson. Both parents preceded her in death.
Doris was united in holy matrimony to Raymond Cason to whom one daughter (Daris) was born. In July 2021, after more than 69 years of marriage, Raymond preceded Doris in death.
Doris was a life long resident of East St. Louis. After graduating from the University of Illinois, she returned to East St. Louis to serve, first as teacher and later as Director of Art at School District 189. She held that position until retirement. She was a member of the Delta Theta Sorority where she shared her talent and time when needed.
Doris had an abiding faith and belief in God. She was a founding member of Radiance Center for Spiritual Living. Then she served in various capacities.
She loved her family, gardening, live theatre, touring museums, and attending poetry and various lectures. Also, she was a collector of Black memorabilia including an extensive collection of African American dolls. As her health declined, she was no longer able to pursue her many interests in life.
On October 9, 2023, surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughters, Doris slipped peacefully into the next phase of eternal life with God.
Cherishing her memories are daughter, Daris Cason of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Hunter Cason of Shiloh, IL; sister, Rosena Pearson Wayne Glenn of East St. Louis, IL; niece, Roslyn Wayne (Todd) Fulton of Charleston, SC; nephews Calvin (Alicia) Glenn of Lexington, NC and Eric Glenn of Los Angeles, CA; great-granddaughters, Aleyah, Arabella, and Asia Cason-Granville of Shiloh, IL; sister-in-law, Yvonne Cason Campbell of O'Fallon, IL; special friend, Annie P. Clark of Shiloh, IL and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
