Obituary

Dora Huffman was born September 23, 1940 in Sumpter, County, Alabama to the union of Hilliard Amerson and Janie Mae Amerson. At an early age, the family moved to East St. Louis.

Dora attended Lincoln High School and Hughes Quinn. She retired from Barnes Jewish Hospital working in Environmental Services for over 30 years. She loved to attend family functions, preach, sing, and tell jokes. She was an active member at Galilee Central Church where she served on the usher board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Huffman, her three children; her sons Marzell Amerson and Derrick Huffman, and her daughter Judy Amerson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Briggs and her three brothers, Willie Amerson, Roosevelt Clark, and Dan Amerson.

Dora departed this life on May 9, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Girtha Amerson, Earl Amerson, Gloria (Marlon) Amerson Miller and Sharvion Amerson; her sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Mary (Curtis) Horton, Amerson Rose Carter; brother Elijah Amerson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and her special friends Willie Mae Gunner, Ora Lee Davis, and Roxie McKinney,
