Donel Ray Gully, Jr. was born March 28, 1964 to the union of Donel Ray Gully Sr. and Elizabeth (Cookie) Atchinson. Grandparents, Moses and Lennie Gully, and his grandson, Amaiziah Donel Gully all preceded him in death.

Donnie attended East St. Louis Public Schools. Donnie had a true zest for life, bringing his bright smile, charm, and witty personality to every occasion. He was sincere and his love for his family was passionate. Without equal, his children and grandchildren meant the world to him. His affection for his dogs were phenomenal.

Donnie was a collector of many things. He loved fishing and attending family gatherings. Those who knew him, knew he also loved to ride in style. Donnie was preceded in death by his grandson, Amaiziah H. Donel Gully.

Donnie departed this life on March 17, 2020 . He leaves to cherish his divine memories, his wife, Shameika Green; his nine children, Dazhavon R. Gully, Dequavon R. Gully-Jones (DeAndre), Donel R. Gully III, Brittany S. Doss, Dontrez R. Green, Daesha R. Gully, Doneya R. Gully, Justus Gully, and Tristan Gully; 13 grandchildren; one brother, LaDon D. Gully; five sisters, LaVonne A. Dew, Pamela (Everette) D. Williams, Carla Y. Gully, Verna M. Gully and Yolanda C. Gully; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
