Derryck Tazzell Jenkins was born on March 20, 1968 , in East Saint Louis, Illinois, to parents Deborah T. Jenkins and Stanley L. Lewis, Jr. He moved to Saint Louis, Missouri later in life.
Derryck accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Refuge Pentecostal Church, in East St. Louis. He received his formal education in East St. Louis School District #189 and graduated with the Class of 1986 from Lincoln Sr. High School, where he was a proud member of the LHS Tiger Concert & Marching Bands. Derryck also played valve trombone in the world renown Lincoln High School Jazz Ensemble. After graduating, Derryck enlisted in the US Marine Corp where he served a short time before being medically discharged and returning to his hometown.
Derryck later attended Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), where he studied Computer Science. He was a very proficient and mostly self-taught computer technician. He was well known for refurbishing and repairing computers. In 2001, Derryck created his own business, Jenkins Concepts , in which he worked from home. He was also employed for some time in Security at The Marriott Hotel-Union Station.
Derryck loved to crack jokes, dance, laugh & and even sing a little, however most of all, he loved his family and his friends! Also, MUSIC…all genres of music was life to him!
He departed this life on Tuesday, April 11 , 2023 . He was preceded in death by his brother Krystian S. Jenkins.
Derryck leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Deborah T. Jenkins of Belleville, IL; father, Stanley L. Lewis, Jr. of Caseyville, IL; brothers, Edward V. Sharp of University City, MO, Darryl Lewis of Texas, Doron Lewis of St. Louis, MO; sisters Sharolyn L. Jenkins of Collinsville, IL, Haronda S. Jenkins of Belleville, IL, Breezy Harris of St. Louis, MO; great-aunt, Beatrice G. Sharp of University City, MO; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
