Derick
Moore
Jul 25, 1952 — May 22, 2025
In Loving Memory of Derick Roy Moore, we celebrate a life that was filled with courage, strength, and strong will, who tried to abide by God's will.
Derick Roy Moore was born on July 25, 1952 to the union of Wilbert and Willie Mae Moore Sr. He was the fifth child born to this union out of thirteen.
Derick was a lifelong citizen of East St. Louis, where he was also an entrepreneur. He loved to entertain, make memories, host barbecues for the community, and give to a good cause.
Derick's soulmate, Cynthia Lee Conner, who was the love of his life, preceded him in death. There were two daughters born to this union, along with three sons. All of his children brought him immense pride and joy throughout his life. Derick was so thankful for his special grandchildren who he took under his wings and raised as his own, Sierra, Suncerea, Roderick, Ebony, and Jalen. He will always love you all and forever guide you every step of the way.
Although Derick was not a religious man, he always believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. Derick knew the Lord due to the teaching of his late grandfather, Elder Luther Moore at an early age. Derick confessed his love for the Lord Jesus to come into his life and received the Holy Ghost. His faith and trust in the Lord was strong, unwavering, and genuine.
Derick always said, "Anything he wants to know, I will ask the Lord," and he waited patiently upon the Lord. He was truly a praying man who feared the Lord.
Derick's outspoken nature was a reflection of his authenticity and his willingness to speak his mind, always advocating for what he believed in. Derick was gifted with a body of strong statue, and his hands were greatly anointed. Derick was blessed with the ability to fix just about anything. Most would say he was a reflection of his father, Wilbert Moore Sr. in so many ways. His smile was contagious with a witty sense of humor.
As we bid farewell to Derick Moore, let us remember the legacy he leaves behind. A legacy of strength, love, and belief of our Lord Jesus Christ. A no nonsense attitude. A life well lived.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Willie Mae Moore, grandson, Roderick "Ark" DeWalt, three brothers, Wilbert Jr. Reginald (Reggie) and Tony Moore, six sisters, Ida Stevenson, Doris Patterson, Ethel (Ester) Ayers, Lela Tracy Ann Moore-Spiller, Carolyn Bohanna, and Gloria Gilmore.
Derick Roy Moore departed this life on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the age of 72 and went home. Derick leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Ungela (James) Moore-Fortner, Melinda (Joe) Moore-Hendricks; his sons, Deves (Kimberly) Parram, Javon Lawrence, and Brandon (Tan Keeya) Clark Sr.; his beautiful grandchildren, Sierra and Suncerea (Christopher) DeWalt, Ebony and Jalen Fortner, Domonique, Isaiah, and Alayna Parram, Jasmine Buster, Brandon Jr., Breyon, Bra'Nya, Bryson and Bra'Layla Clark, Jamiye, Janiya, Kamiya, Tyrese, and Jada Lawrence; great grandchildren, Devin DeWalt, Jai'Ceon Turner, Asia Hardy, Christopher Jr. and Cherish Edwards, Willow Dunn, Ariyah, Scarlett, Zion, and Faye Parram; eight brothers, Willie "Rico", Gregory, Reginald "Rep", Elijah, Lazeal (Joyce), Ricky, Luther, Ray (Tamara), and Joe Moore; six sisters, Vernita (Robert) Reid, Shirley "Sis" Silas, Marilyn Moore-Youngbear, Lessie T.
