Mr. Demarcus Felton was born on August 15, 1965 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Wanda Hawkins-Felton. Demarcus was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. Ernest (Fannie) Hawkins and aunt, Ernestine Carter.
Demarcus was raised in Brooklyn, Illinois and received his formal education at Lovejoy School District #188 and was a proud member of the Class of 1983.
Demarcus professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at his family's church, Southern Tabernacle M.B. Church in Lovejoy, Illinois. He later joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in East Saint Louis, Illinois under the leadership of Rev. Herman L. Watson Sr.
Demarcus served his country by enlisting in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1987.
Demarcus was employed by Armstead Rail in Granite City, Illinois and retired after twenty-years of service.
Demarcus had great love for his family and friends. He was known for his exquisite eye for fashion (always freshly dressed), his love for music, motorcycles and traveling. Demarcus was fondly referred to as the "The Original Heavy D" and "DEFFER1/DEFFER2."
Demarcus departed this life at 8:35 a.m. on Tuesday November 8, 2022 with family by his bedside.
Demarcus leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted mother ~ Ms. Wanda Hawkins-Felton of Granite City, Illinois; father figure who helped rear him ~ Mr. Roy Cody of Belleville, Illinois; sisters ~ Mrs. Shermnita (Tony) Miller of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Christina Cody of Swansea, Illinois and Ms. Tracey Moore of Saint Louis, Missouri; brothers, Mr. Ernest (Andrea) Cody of Florissant, Missouri, Mr. Vernon (Beverly) Cody of Saint Louis, Missouri, Mr. Andre (Stephanie) Walker of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mr. Marco (Kenya) Cody of O'Fallon, Missouri, Mr. Andre Cody of Saint Louis, Missouri; nieces ~ Tamaj'a Cody, Jasmine Moore, Rosalia Cody and Steveesha Shannon; nephews ~ Terris Miller, Tyrris Miller, Tyreke Cody, Dominic Harris, Jr. and VeeJay Cody; aunt ~ Mrs. Cheryl Bailey of Godfrey, Illinois; uncle ~ Mr. Francis Logan of Saint Louis, Missouri; special friend ~ Ruth Gregory; a host of cousins, friends and the Lovejoy Class of 1983.
