Obituary

Mr. Demarco Suggs (AKA Marco, "The Champ", Nub Dubb) was born on June 17, 1975 to Daisy Nealy, nee Suggs and Lee Arthur Stepney in Centreville, IL. DeMarco was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. One of the greatest moments of his life was when his daughter, Mikaela Suggs, was born to him and Dione Johnson on August 18, 1996. His greatest joy came from being present for his family and friends, whether it was celebrating milestones, offering words of wisdom, or simply sharing laughter at gatherings. Always just a phone call away, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support made him the foundation of his family and his love will forever be felt in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

DeMarco had a deep love and passion for wrestling, dedicating countless hours to mastering his skills and pushing himself to new heights. Among other accomplishments, his dedication and perseverance led him to win the Illinois State Championship in 1993, a proud achievement that reflected his hard work and determination. He carried that same drive throughout his life, inspiring those around him with his commitment, resilience, and love for the sport.

DeMarco was a proud graduate of Lincoln College where he excelled in football and wrestling. After his time at Lincoln, he went on to wrestle at Northern Illinois University. His passion for sports led him  to coach little league football and wrestling, where he made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He found great joy in giving back to his community as a dedicated coach. He poured his heart into mentoring young athletes, not only teaching them the fundamentals of the game but also instilling values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. His guidance and encouragement while coaching shaped the lives of countless children, especially his nephews Adrian and Aiden, inspiring them to believe in themselves both on and off the field. Through his passion for coaching, he became a role model, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered for generations to come.

DeMarco was not only a man of many talents but also an entrepreneur who turned his passion for fixing and building into a small business that made a big impact. He credited the father who raised him, Howard Nealy Sr., with rearing him into being a responsible man and teaching him how to work on houses, cars, and everything in between. He founded Handy Husbands, LLC, local general contracting company known for providing services ranging from home repairs to commercial projects for "everything under the roof". He took pride in helping his community with honest workmanship and a personal touch. His dedication to his craft and commitment to  customer satisfaction earned him the trust of many, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and service.

DeMarco grew up with the knowledge of the Lord his whole life and committed his life to Christ during his last days of life.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his mother, Daisy Nealy of East St. Louis, IL; his beloved daughter, Mikaela Suggs of O'Fallon, IL; siblings Howard Nealy, Dasmine Nealy, Giana Lewis, Pleshette Fair, Devion Simpson, Timothy (Stephanie) Nealy, Mark (Shirley) Nealy, Dexter Nealy, Peggy Ann Nealy, Paulette Nealy, and Tracey Nealy; his grandmother, Sireatha Cathion; his nephews, Adrian and Ayden Nealy; dear aunts, Lorraine Adams, Antionette (Reginald) Perkins, Lois Brown, and Sharon Stepney; dear uncles, Wilbert Brown and Elston (Tera) Suggs, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins more like brothers ad sisters, extended family, dear friends, Centreville Crew and former wrestling teammates.

DeMarco was preceded in death by his fathers, Howard Nealy, Jr. and Lee Arthur Stepney, his grandparents, Mr. William and Claudella Brown-Suggs , his brother Howard David Nealy, his aunts, Clara Yvonne Minniefield and Elaine Carolyn Brown, and his uncles, William "Butch" Brown Jr., Maurice Brown Sr., Terry Brown, and Elroy Suggs.

DeMarco faced illness with remarkable strength and grace, never complaining, never indulging in self-pity, and never asking, "Why me?" Even in his final days, his thoughts were not of himself but of his beloved daughter, mother, sister, and brother, ensuring their well-being above all else. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take solace in knowing that DeMarco has found eternal peace. His love, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will remain a guiding light in our lives, forever etched in our hearts.
