Delores
Wyatt
Jul 21, 1940 — Sep 21, 2020
Delores J. Wyatt entered this life on July 21, 1940 to Vallie Buie in Madison, IL. Her parents, husband John H. Wyatt, sisters Ernestine Bacon and Patricia Garrett and brothers James Garrett, Jr., Claude Garrett and Tommy Patterson all preceded her in death.
"Fluke" as she was affectionately called, received her formal education at Dunbar Elementary and graduated from Lovejoy High School in 1961. She continued her education, studying nursing and graduated in 1969 from Granite City Community District #9.
"Fluke" was united in holy matrimony to John H. Wyatt on July 28, 1963. To this union one son, Darren Keith Wyatt was born.
"Fluke" was employed by St. Elizabeth's Hospital as a Nurse Aide for many years. She also drove the MET Bus and finished her working career as a School Aide for the Madison School District.
"Fluke" was a lifelong resident of Venice, where she participated in many community programs and services. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Southern Mission Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Sherrell Byrd. "Fluke" served on the Usher Board, taught Sunday School, sung in the choir and drove the church bus for many years.
"Fluke" later in life moved into "The Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation Center" in Granite City, IL. While there she continued to be active at Southern Mission, attending Sunday School, Bible Study and services during the week until her health began to fail. "Fluke" resided at "GNR" for 16 years. She was well known there and quite the helper. She could always be found assisting the nursing staff with other residents or telling the staff how things should be.
On Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home, "Fluke" transitioned from this earthly home and entered into eternity. Her precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family members. She will be cherished and missed by one son Darren Keith Wyatt; two sisters, Maristeen Woolfolk and Angel Hans, of Peoria, IL; two brothers, James Patterson, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; and Earl Patterson of Minnesota; two very devoted and special cousins Alesia Jones and Evelyn Jones of Granite City, IL; a special friend Claudia Ball of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends and the entire staff and residents at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
