Deborah M. Parker , AKA "Shotgun Deb", was born on February 2, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Christine Clemons and Charles Smith, Sr. Debbie peacefully departed this life at her home, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 .
Debbie confessed Christ as a child, uniting with St. Joseph Catholic Church in East St. Louis, IL. As an adult, she united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, IL. Debbie began her education at St. Joseph Catholic School, before attending East St. Louis schools, graduating from East St. Louis High School. She also attended Tennessee St. University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. She was on the Dean's List, the T.S.U. Dance Club, the Dance Theatre and served as an alternate for the Student Government Association. She later worked at the Human Development Corporation.
Debbie had an unwavering love for the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a diehard fan and would often be seen cheering her team to victory. She loved to cook, and definitely loved to eat!
She had a 'shotgun' personality, and it showed in her spirit and actions. Debbie loved her family and would go to bat for them and with them! She was an alumni of the Fleur de Lis Debutant Ball, and her etiquette and grace showed with every step.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Christine Clemons; father, Charles Smith, Sr.; one brother, Charles Smith, Jr.; and grandparents, Ben & Rebecca Washington.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Eboni January of Houston, TX; one son, Daniel January of Denver, CO; one sister, Reba H. Smith Burns (Larry Tubbs) of Flint, MI; three brothers, Dexter (Sarita) Smith of Edwardsville, IL, Ronnie N. Smith of San Antonio, TX and Earl (Stacey) Johnson of Hannibal, MO; grandchildren, Dhyonna and Daniel, and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Debbie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
