Obituary

David Marks Jr. was born on June 4, 1943 in Greenville, Mississippi to Virginia London and David Marks, Sr.

David received his education in the Greenville, Mississippi public school system.

David was invited by Little Milton and Oliver Sain to join them for club engagements in East St. Louis, Illinois. Over time, David performed with David Dee, Mark Peebles, George Brock Blues Band, singing artist Renee Smith, and countless others. David was inducted in the St. Louis Blues and Jazz Hall of Fame as one of many great blues guitarists.

David was also employed by Local 520 Engineer in 1970 as a heavy equipment operator and later retired in 1990.

David was preceded in death by his son, David Marks III; his mother, Virginia London; father, David Marks Sr.; sisters, Callie Mae Williams, Carolyn Richardson, and brother, Otis Marks.

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, David was called to eternal rest. David leaves to cherish his memory his children, Linda Faye, Terry Marks, Yolonda Marks-Ward (Deverick), Johnnel Marks, Antonio Marks, Latisha Marks, Latricia Marks-Littlejohn (Christopher), and Tyiona Hall-Driver (Bobby); former wife, Gladys Marks; brothers, Clarence Marks, Robert London, Connie Hawkins (Donna), Tommy London, Johnny London (Bernadine), and Will Singleton (Darlene); sisters, Otha London, Deborah London-Allen (Bep) and Delories Johnson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Ben and Joanne, Mark Peebles, and Ronnie Strong; bonus child, Christina Middleton.
