David
Byas
Jan 30, 1950 — Jul 21, 2018
Belleville
David Henry Byas was born January 3, 1950 to Matthew Byas of Starkville, Mississippi, and Ruby Byas (Nee Smith) of West Point, Mississippi. David received his education through East St. Louis school district 189, and worked towards his college education at State Community College. David confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and recently rededicated himself to Christ.
David was employed with Union Pacific Railroad, and most notably with Bi-State Development Agency until his retirement. Amongst other things, David was known for his love of toothpicks, of which he always carried a stash. David was also an avid chess player, and loved to challenge anyone to play against him. He was indeed a sore loser. His love of games didn't end with chess as he enjoyed playing spades, and was notorious for getting his feathers in a bunch for causing any renigging.
David united in marriage to Brenda Daniels, and of that union, three children were born, A'Ryanne, Dierdre, and Cicily (deceased). David also leaves a daughter, Tiphannie to cherish his memory.
David has always been cool, calm, and collected, but most of all loving to all of his family and friends. David was the 2 nd oldest of five children, of which both parents and three siblings Mary Drake, Terrance Byas, and Margaret Franklin preceded him in death.
David is survived by his children, A'Ryanne Byas, Dierdre ( Dennis) Rodgers, Tiphannie Harold and a play daughter Tracy Clark. His surviving siblings are, Romona (Pastor Steve) Wooten, and Brother in law Willis Drake Sr. Also left to grieve his memory are eight grandchildren: Amber (Darrion), Cicily, Brendan, Erin, Amaru, Jalene, Rionna, Sayuri, two great-grandchildren: Emery and Carmen, along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family, friends, and Special friend Marietta Claypool.
