Darrien L. "Ike" Mickens was born on December 11, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri to Albert Mickens, Jr and Edna M. Mickens nee Moore.
Darrien received his education in East St. Louis School District #189. He worked Maintenance at McCormack Baron & Associates for over 20 years before his retirement.
Darrien had a heart full of love, and his joy for life was contagious. He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and his passion for the game brought his family and friends together, often sparking lively conversations. Darrien shared a deep bond with his brother Butch, speaking with his every single day, their chats filled with laughter, memories, and mutual support.
Darrien adored his children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them and taking pride in their accomplishments. Family gatherings were his favorite occasions, where his warm smile and hearty laugh lit up the room. Darrien had a gift for fixing just about anything, a skill he used selflessly to help anyone in need. Whether it was lending a hand, offering advice, or simply being there, Darrien's kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Darrien has been with his soulmate Gloristine for close to 50 years and married for 42 years in May.
Darrien was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Isaac Ike and Albert "Butch Ike" Maurice Mickens and a special niece, Ronay Ike.
He departed this life on December 14, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gloristine Mickens; children, Darrien DeAngelo Rodgers, Justin A. Mickens, Amber Mickens, and Keona Saunders; sisters, Carrie Williams, Eula Ike, Deborah Hallman (Douglas), and Kattie Mickens; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
