Obituary

Darrell Brockman, Jr. born May 17, 1951 at Scott Air Force Base near Belleville and O'Fallon, Illinois to the union of Bertha Stewart Brockman and Darrell Brockman, Sr.

Darrell graduated from the Cahokia High School in 1968 located in Cahokia, Illinois. At an early age he was baptized under the leadership of Pastor W.B. Rouse located at 13th Tudor Avenue, East St. Louis, Illinois.

This experience lead up to meeting a young lady, Donna M. Toney and a marriage on October 3, 1970, which brought two children in the union, a beautiful baby girl named, Angela Montrice Brockman and a son Darrell Brockman III.

His hobbies were bowling listening to all types of music; Darrell loved his music. The house was never quiet. Darrell began his career after retiring from the U.S. Army. He worked as a Cab driver for Independent Cab 1972 until the closing of the station. In 1975, he became the Asst. Administrative to Mayor Miller of Alorton, Illinois, he then took on another job working nights at the Cahokia Racetrack to make ends meet for his family.

He was the first black Personnel Clerk at Sterling Steel in Sauget, Illinois. His life was forthgoing. In 1983, he remarried to Rolanda Crawford Brockman and out of that union was born a daughter, Lashonda Brockman. He then had vows with Stella. Although no children were born to this union, he accepted Stelana Brockman as his own.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darrell Brockman III and one granddaughter Akia Brockman; he is survived by three brothers Leander Brockman (Patricia), Ellis (Velma) and Van Kieth Brockman; two sisters Angela Brockman Johnson (Donnie), and Iris Brockman Sloan (Leamond Sloan); his children Angela M. Brockman Flakes, Darrell Brockman IV (Tia), Wanakee Fenderson, Lashonda Brockman and Stelana Brockman; fourteen grandchildren eight great-grandchildren; eleven nieces, four nephews; and a dear friend ~ Lentoli Traylor.
