Obituary

Clifford L. Douglas, "Bubba", was born on June 24, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of James L. Douglas and Callie Mae Douglas (McNeace).  Clifford was preceded in death both of his parents, James and Callie Douglas, one daughter, Jy'nell O. Douglas, siblings, Dorothy J. McCorkle, William Douglas, Juanita Bolden, Mary J. Smith, mother in law, Louise Haymer and brother in law, George Madlock.

In his youth, Clifford played Khoury League Baseball as well as football, going on to play football at the old Parsons Field while attending Lincoln Senior High School.  After high school, he entered the United States Army, where he earned several medals and ribbons such as good conduct and M16 rifle marksmanship.  Clifford was honorable discharged from active duty on May 11, 1984, from Fort Dix Military base of Fort Dix, New Jersey.  Clifford was employed by Local #2 as a Journeyman Roofer for a short while after the military.  Clifford started at Heimos as a receiving clerk and excelled to supervisor before retiring after 25 years of service.

Throughout life in addition to his day to day employment, Clifford passed the time by helping his father maintain the family owned properties.  He loved to host family gatherings at his home that he shared with his wife and hanging with the fellas.  Life changed for Clifford with his first born, where he became the doting father and protector of all.  At the same time he became highly admired by his nieces and a great companion and friend to his nephews.

Life changed again when Clifford married Marsha which brought additions to the family (grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews).  Where he once again became the hero, protector, role model, advisor, disciplinarian, doting and present grandfather and great uncle.  Bubba was truly the life of every party and family gathering.  You can count on his humor and wit from the time he walked in the door until the last card was played, the last bone was dropped or the last spade was slapped onto the table.  He will truly be missed by all.
