Christel Antoinette Wisham, affectionately known as "Chris", was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on January 26th, 1964, to the union of Charlene (Wisham) Wade and Willie Roby. Chris is preceded in death by her father, Willie Roby; stepfather, Samuel Wade; son, Toby Wisham, and brothers, Jerome Wisham, Daland Wade, David Wade, Albert Wisham and other family members.
Chris confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined her family church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. M.R. Lemons, and continued with Rev. Charles Williams, where she was active in the choir.
Chris graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School, East St. Louis, IL. Class of 1982. After graduation, she continued her education at Bryan Institute and received her clinical medical assistant certificate with honors. For many years she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Jolivert at the 4601 St. Street medical building and continued her goal at Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation for 29 years, holding various positions.
Chris departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Charlene Wade of Washington Park, IL; two daughters, Lashanda Wisham of Columbia, MO and Doneshia Gardner (fiancé, Richard Towns) of Belleville, IL; one son, Joshua Wisham of Dallas, TX; stepson, Donnell Gardner (fiancé, Noelle Hill); seven grandchildren, Tarus Moore Jr., Toby Wisham Jr., Tytiana Wisham, Shamya Haywood, Talia Wisham, Taloria Wisham, and Kalani Towns; four great grandchildren, Trysten Moore, Kye Moore, Jeremiah Turner, and Kimoura Rush; five sisters, Lorae (Leapy) Wade of Edgemont, IL, Shelia (Lamanuel) Hatcher of Belleville, IL, Wanda (Kenneth) Sims of East St. Louis, IL, Mickie Reed of Springfield, IL, and Pamela Perkins of Cahokia Heights, IL; three brothers, Anthony (Skip) Wisham Sr. of Terre Haute, IN, Grover (Terry) Wade of Washington Park, IL, and Freddie Wade of Belleville, IL; one aunt, Bernice Green of Cahokia Heights, IL; one uncle, Melvin (Pam) Wisham of St. Louis, MO; special friend, David Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
