She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend James Harris, Sr.; sons, Kenneth R. Harris Sr., Michael L. Harris and James P. Harris, Sr. daughter, Deborah D. Harris; stepson, James Harris Jr., granddaughter Ciara L. Harris; parents, brothers, Clarence and Earl Redden and W.L. Williams; sisters, Thelma Redden-Lyke, Mary Jane Williams-Carson and Betty Jo Williams-Johnson.
Cassie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was baptized and united with the Shiloh Baptist Church in Normangee, Texas. Upon relocating to East St. Louis in 1948, she joined the New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.P. Alexander. After her marriage, she united with St. Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A.L. Jackson. In 1978, the family joined Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddie L. O'Bannon. She served as the Mother Board President and remained a faithful member until her health failed.
Cassie united in holy matrimony with James Harris on February 28, 1953. The union was blessed with seven children and five stepchildren. Her enjoyment and focus came from being an example of a Christian, wife and mother. She possessed a peaceful and humble spirit.
