Carolyn
Love
Jan 5, 1941 — Jan 4, 2023
Carolyn Emily Love was born January 5, 1941 , in East St. Louis, Illinois to Autherine Green and Milton Green, Sr. She was educated in East St Louis School District, graduating from Lincoln Senior High School in 1959. Later she attended and graduated from the University of Topeka.
Carolyn met and later married Norman Love on June 30, 1963. They loved each other until he preceded her in death in 2002. Together they raised two sons. She was a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a loving and kind woman who could also be a jokester. She had a great laugh, and her smile was infectious. She loved her family and enjoyed doing ancestry research.
Carolyn was no stranger to hard work. She worked and retired after 37 years of service from the National Personnel Records Center. She received a signed letter from President Barack Obama after receiving the Superior Civilian Award. After that she worked as a contractor at Scott AFB and had her 2 nd retirement in 2019. She worked hard and also enjoyed shopping and playing her games on the IPad.
Carolyn accepted Christ at a young age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Since October 2005, she was a proud life changer at New Life in Christ Church where she joined shortly after the church marched in at the current location. She exemplified the Christian life she led and was known to all as a kind, loving and selfless person. She was known for serving others and always went out of her way to help those in need. She always engaged with others and would be the one to pick up and make sure her "girls" Mrs. Sylvia and Mrs. Lucille were also at church. She was a regular part of the Seasoned Saints Ministry and even traveled with them to Branson a few years ago. Additionally, she served in the community, volunteering for Habitat For Humanity.
After a life well lived, Carolyn Love was called home to be with the Lord one day before her 82 nd birthday, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 , in Belleville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Love, both her parents, and her siblings Linda Lee Green and Milton Green, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Terrill (Regina) Love of Phoenix, AZ and Gregory Love of Belleville, IL; her sister Delia Norde of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren Quinta Stokes, Nagina Wallace, Dr. Darren Love and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
