Obituary

Camille Diane Williams-McCaskill, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on December 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

Camille was born on May 22, 1942, to the union of Joseph L. Williams and Veria O. Clay in St. Louis, Missouri. In her early years, Camille attended school in Overland, Missouri, graduating from Ritenour High School in 1959.

Camille attended St. Louis University where she obtained a B.S. (Social Work) in 1963, and a M.S.W. in 1965. During her SLU years, Camille met lifelong friends, Joan Parham and Norma Ellington Twitty. Together, they pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

After graduation, Camille worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services. It was during this time that Camille was introduced to her husband, Earle McCaskill, by her friend Joan. Camille and Earle were married in 1970. Camille then moved to Illinois and began working for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. In 1972, Camille and Earle purchased a home and, in 1974, welcomed their only child.

Camille then joined Wesley Bathel United Methodist Church (now known as Trinity United Methodist Church) located in East St. Louis, Illinois. Over the years, Camille remained dedicated to her faith and the teachings of the United Methodist Church. Her studies led her to become a Lay Leader as well as a Lay Servant. Camille was assigned to serve on several committees of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and, because of her service and involvement with the United Methodist Women (now known as United Women in Faith), she was elected the Illinois Great Rivers Conference President.

Camille was also a member of the East St. Louis Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc., where she held various offices over the years, and was an active member until the graduation of her daughter. In later, years, she began serving in an advisory role, and recently, she was elected president of the East St. Louis Chapter of Jack and Jill of American Associates.

Camille served on the Board of Directors for the Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House and the Cunningham Children's Home. She was a member of the AKA East St. Louis Alumni Chapter (Delta Delta Omega), where she was honored as a Golden Soror with 50 years of service. Camille was also a charter member of the East St. Louis Chapter of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.

Camille was employed as a Family Services Coordinator for the Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville, Illinois Head Start Early Childhood Program in East St. Louis, Illinois, where she provided services that prepare children for school and life. She served in this capacity for more than twenty-five years. Camille also worked part-time in the Houseware Department at Macy's Department Store for several years.

Camille was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Ericka. Camille also leaves behind a sister, Dr. Stephanie C. Williams, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
