Obituary

Master Arthur O'Neal Stewart was born October 15, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ludia M. Toney and Arthur O. Stewart, Sr. He was reared by his great aunt Susie Obard at 11 days after his birth. He was preceded in death by his parents, a loving wife, Dr. Alice Stewart, son, Jeffrey Stewart, step-son, Melvin Connors, two sisters, Birtie Lee White, Hattie Taylor, and brother, Eddie W.L. Cook, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Cook. Arthur married Martha Fields and born to this union were three children. He later married Alice Taylor. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education during his work tenure with United States Postal Service. He later pursued his passion of teaching by joining the East St. Louis School District 189, where he served as a Science Teacher and Football coach until he retired.

He later founded the Charity Pentecostal Apostolic Church, along with his wife and Co-Founder Dr. Alice Stewart, from this initiative grew the Unity of the Faith Fellowship Assembly of Churches incorporating organizations both in St. Louis and East St. Louis. Arthur aka (Bishop Stewart) was a dynamic educator and had a favorite adage, "I'm just an empty picture seeking to be filled."

As a tribute after his wife's passing, Bishop Stewart changed the church name from "Charity Pentecostal Apostolic Church" to "Unity of Faith Apostolic Church." He preached and taught many how to achieve salvation through the Word of God. Many souls have been saved an brought to Christ through Ministry and Pastorate. Gone but not forgotten ever alive in each and everyone of us.

He departed this life on September 29, 2016 transitioning into eternity. He leaves to cherish his memories, Darrell (Elenora) Stewart, Jeffery O. (Carolyn) Stewart, Cynthia (Gerry) White, Camera (Angela) Jonson, Delphya (Richard) Stewart, Terrence (Duane) Connors and Iola (David) Hall and Camera Johnson; sisters-in-law, Savannah (John) Harris, JoAnn (Jeremy) Ahart, Joseph (Adrian) Jackson; a special niece, Bonita; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
