Mr. Beverly Matory was born on September 3, 1926 to the union of Mr. Brady and Mrs. Beulah Matory. Mr. Matory was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, Brady Matory Jr., Mary Louise Matory Phillips, and Marjorie Matory Gray. Mr. Matory professed his love for Christ at an early age and later in life. Beverly, also known as "Bud Lou", grew up in Fireworks Station, Centreville. He attended Garrison Elementary, LoveJoy High School and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Mr. Matory was drafted in the United States Airforce.
After faithfully serving his duties to his country, Beverly held several jobs, settling with the United States Postal Service.
After leaving the U.S. Postal Service, Mr. Matory joined with his father in the shoe repair industry. Mr. Matory like his father, was an early pioneer in black business development and ownership. Matory Shoe Repair & Outlet serviced the community for several decades.
Bud Lou was a pillar in the community, a successful entrepreneur and business owner. He was a philanthropist providing shoes to his community, with little to no cost.
Mr. Beverly Matory was called home on June 16, 2019. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Casterdaral (Eunice) Matory, Deanne (Damon Sr.) Brooks, and Constance Matory-Austin; grandchildren, Bernetta Matory, Bernita (JoSunda Sr.) Matory-Lister, Casterdaral Matory Jr., Adam Austin, Micah Austin, Devin Brooks; great-grandson, JoSunda Lister, Jr.; sisters, Bernice Howze, Nora (Jeffery) Gunns, Barbara Matory, Yvonne Cole; a special nephew, Theon Phillips; a special cousin, Carl Bowie, and special friends, Dennis Lash and Lloyd Bailey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
