Betty
Stanley
Sep 27, 1937 — Aug 23, 2022
Betty was born to the union of Eddie and Ruth Thompson. She was preceded in death by both parents and six siblings: Velma Porter, Rosemary Hayes, Iva Mae Green, Melvin Thompson, Mildred Harris and Bernell Thompson.
Betty received her education in the E. St. Louis public school system. She was employed as an In Home Caregiver, a position in which she proudly served and held in high esteem. She was united in holy matrimony to Elmer P. Stanley in 1953. To this union four children were born. Elmer Pierce, Rory Lynn, Dwana Ruth (who preceded her in death) and Leslie Darwin.
Betty, affectionately known as Baby Jane by those in her inner circle, was a loving and caring person, with an ear to hear and a heart filled with genuine compassion. She freely shared her wisdom and words of encouragement to help anyone through tough times. Her selflessness and giving spirit was always willing to lend a hand, to fill a void and to help make someone whole.
Betty began her walk with the Lord alongside her Mother at the House of Prayer to All Nations Apostolic Church in Alorton, IL, under the pastorship of Bishop Mack Jonas. At her mother's demise, she began her tenure at her new church home, she was a faithful, Holy ghost filled, fire baptized, dedicated member who served on the Mother's Board at Foundation of Truth COGIC where Loren W. Burris is Pastor.
Betty lived the last stages of her life with arthritis which made it difficult for her to physically walk, but it did not hinder her walk with the Lord. She loved the Lord and even in her illness she kept the faith. She said, "I'll keep fighting until the Lord call me home."
She leaves to cherish her memories one brother, Robert E. Thompson of Detroit, Michigan; five sons, Elmer Stanley (Connie), Rory Stanley (Areatha) of Alorton, IL, Leslie Stanley (Beatrice) of Cahokia, IL, Cedric Stanley (Eugina) of Spanaway, WA and Arthur L. Stanley of Belleville, IL.; three daughters, Pamela Moore-Wade (Eddie), Karla Scales (Donald), and Michelle Sanders-Jones (Jevon) all of Cahokia, IL.; 26 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, her Foundation of Truth Church family, a special nephew, Michael Green and two very dear friends, Norris Mason and Claudine "Dean" Collins.
