Betty Jean Gibson was born on December 29, 1942 in Schlater, Mississippi to the union of Sylvester Gibson and Carrie Mae Gibson. The family moved to East St. Louis, IL in 1955.
Betty received her formal education in the St. Louis School District. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1962. Betty worked as a hairdresser and styled wigs at Grant.
Betty enjoyed cooking. Her specialty was caramel cake. She loved to attend family gatherings, playing poker and Bingo with friends.
Betty is preceded in death by brothers Mr. Sylvester Gibson Jr. and Mr. John Daniel Gibson; her sisters Ms. Carrie Bell Gibson and Ms. Mary Jane Gibson, and her loving companion of over 40 years Mr. Eddie Jordon.j
Betty departed this life on February 1, 2021. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sister Mrs. Dorothy (Rogaster) Howard of Venice, IL; two brothers Mr. Samuel Gibson and Mr. James L. Gibson, both of East St. Louis, IL; special great- niece and caregiver Salita McGee of Madison, IL; close friend Debbie Ellis of Madison, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
