Betty Lue Dawson was born on May 7, 1957 to the late William and Willie Margaret Dawson. She was born n St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Dawson and two brothers, George and Oliver Dawson.

Betty graduated from East St. Louis Sr. High School Class of 1975. She knew the importance of education and decided to continue her education later in life. She received an Associates of Arts and Business Administration in 2008 and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in 2011.

She retired from Federal Reserve Bank in 2015 after 30 dedicated years of service. Her eloquence and outgoing personality awarded her a position as team leader for her local toastmasters group, where she was able to express her creativity through poetry and short story writing. It should also be noted that Betty dedicated her life to being an honorary mother to her niece and three grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Charletta Dawson of Cahokia, Illinois; an honorary daughter, Crystal Green (Loron) of Chesapeake, Virginia; three grandchildren, Shaunice Warlick, Darrius Isbell and Dajah Hutchins, all of Cahokia, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Leon'Dre Hall, Leonna Hall, A'Myla Brooks and Darielle Williams; special friend, Peron Glass of St. Louis, Missouri; eight siblings, William A. Dawson Jr. of California, Janice M. Dawson of Mississippi, Victor L. Dawson (Carolyn) of Alabama, Walter D. Dawson, Patricia Jennings, Theresea Donelson and Jennifer Dawson all of East St. Louis, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Valerie Dawson and Jessie Dawson, a lifelong friend, Diane Patton and close friend, Francine Fenton.
