Mrs. Betty Buford was born on December 9, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Henry Burnett and Emma Lee (Jarrett) Burnett. She grew up in St. Louis, receiving her education and graduating from Vashon High School. During the summer months, the family would often vacation in Tennessee, with relatives. After graduation, Betty attended trade school learning secretarial tasks.

Betty married her soul mate for life in the person of Stanford Russell Buford who preceded her in death in February of 2013. To this union, three wonderful children were born, Stephanie, Gail and Stanford Jr.

In 1968, looking for a change, the family moved to California. While in California, Betty became an entrepreneur, starting and owning a beauty salon. She also took acting lessons, working as an actress part time and meeting many people. She worked with actors that worked on the Sanford and Son television show and gained employment with Universal Studios. Betty had a beautiful voice. While in California in 1972, Betty became a Buddhist.

In 1992, the family returned to St. Louis, Missouri. Betty was employed by the City of Pagedale, as a community liaison officer, working directly with the mayor of Pagedale. She still found time to use her beautician skills. Betty continued her walk in Buddhism.

Betty retired from the city of Pagedale, leaving her legacy. She left her legacy of love, strength and devotion to her children and grandchildren.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, after a brief stay at Evelyn's House, Betty departed this life. She leaves to cherish her legacy of love and strength, her children Stephanie Buford, Gail Buford and Stanford Buford Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
