Mother Bessie Earl Evans was born May 11, 1937 , DeKalb, MS to Peter and Mattie Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Elder John Henry Evans, Sr., also they were married for 57 years, parents, Peter and Mattie Hudson, siblings, Helen Smith, Louis Clark, Alline Mathis, Frank Hudson, McKinley Hudson, Essie "B." Hudson and Algene Hudson.
Mother Bessie Earl Evans graduated from Wilson High School in DeKalb, MS and furthered her education in East St. Louis, IL with variable sewing classes and head cook certification.
Mother Bessie Earl Evans came to East St. Louis, IL in 1959. She was employed at We Three Restaurant in East St. Louis, IL, Pant Factory in Belleville, IL., The Tomato CO. St. Mary Hospital in East St. Louis, IL. Later in life, she was employed with District #189 School System in East St. Louis, IL for 22 years where she she retired, she also made flower arrangements. She was a caregiver to various relatives when their health was failing. She was self-employed as a seamstress for many years until her health failed.
Mother Bessie Earl Evans had hope in Christ at an early age at Blackwater Church in DeKalb, MS. She moved to East St. Louis, IL in 1959, started going to the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Garfield Hubbard, Sr., where she was in the choir and the usher board. Later in life, she moved her membership to Parkside House of Prayer where she was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Chandler.
In the late 80's, she moved her membership to the Original House of Prayer to All Nations in Alorton, IL under the leadership of the late Suffragan Bishop Dr. Lloyd H. Clemons, Sr. She was in the choir and the president over the usher board. Bishop Gregory Wells was Mother Bessie E. Evans watch care until the Original House of Prayer elected a Pastor. Mother Bessie E. Evans joined Fresh Start Apostolic Church under Elder Leroy Lattin. The Pastor and members started calling her " Mother Evans" . Mother Bessie E. Evans was in Mother Clara Johnson's prayer band, Dora Byrum prayer band, nursing home ministry and over the noon day prayer at Original House of Prayer Church.
Mother Bessie Earl Evans loved to travel with her family and friends. They went to various states and cities to visit families, P.A.W. National Conventions, Prayer Clinic and sightseeing.
On Sunday, September 8, 2024 , our heavenly father called Bessie Earl Evans home with grace and mercy to be at eternal rest.
Mother Bessie Earl Evans cherished memories, she leaves: one daughter, Lorraine Evans-Ferguson of Belleville, IL, one son, John H. Evans, Jr. of Fairview Heights, IL, two brothers, Floyd Hudson of Belleville, IL and Peter Hudson of East St. Louis, IL, two sister-in-laws, Apostle Ruby Lee Johnson of Flint, MI and Evang. Mary Alice Gross of Philadelphia, MS, two brother-in-laws Mack Evans of Flint, MI and Fred Evans of Philadelphia, MS, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; god-daughter, Dora and son Elder Thomas Gantt, special friend Elise Smith and Fresh Start Church kids.
