Bertha Thompson was born December 25, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the second youngest out of eight children to the late Clarence Thompson Sr. and Carrie Ware. She was raised in East St. Louis, Illinois, where she attended Clark & Rock Jr. High School, and Eastside High School. She was baptized Sunday, April 28, 2014 at Gethsemane Church Of The Living God.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Thompson Sr. and Carrie Ware; her son, Gregory Thompson Sr., four sisters, Linnie Boler, Rose Randolph, Dorothy Thompson, and Veronica Ware; one brother, David Whitehead; two grandchildren, Tatiana Thompson and Damyla Ware, and one niece, Diane Boler.
She leaves to cherish her memories four sisters, Theretha (Dejwan) Thompson-Lockett, Doretha Thompson, Isabella Thompson, and Mary Johnson; one brother, Clarence Thompson, Jr.; her children, Dinnel Thompson, Timmecia Thompson, James (Lanisha) Thompson, Alicia Ware, Ikeshia Ware, Willie Ware and Carrieica Heard; her grandchildren, Torrie Slater, Torionna Thompson, Gregory Thompson Jr., Elijah Thompson, Terrion Thompson, Lorenzo Jackson, James Thompson Jr., Calvin Stokes, Janily Parker, Armel Thompson, Javonta Thompson, Kalvian Stokes, Kiyah Young, Duces Thompson, Brania Thompson, Ray'meshia Ware, Carrianna Van, Damylan Ware, Denzel Young, Kysan Young, Zaylee Young, Kingston Thompson, Damier Douglas, Dwanya Childs; great-granddaughter, K'iyla Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bertha loved her kids and her grandchildren, and was happy to meet her great-granddaughter. Bertha had a big and warm heart. She loved when her family got together and and loved on one another and love on her. Most importantly, Bertha was a God fearing woman! A praying and loving mother. She was someone you can go to when you needed some encouragement. She was always happy and smiling, which had the power to fill you with so much joy; even through her own sickness, she would still lift you up. Bertha will be greatly missed.
