Barbara Anne Matory was blessed to be born to the union of Brady and Beulah (Bowie) Matory on September 27, 1938 who proceeded her in death. She was also proceeded in death by her siblings Beverly Matory, Marjorie Gray, Mary L. Phillips, and Brady Matory, Jr.

Barbara received her formal education at the following institutions: Garrison Elementary, St. Teresa Academy, Quincy University and graduated from McKednree University with a Bachelor in Literature,

She had a long and rewarding career as an educator in East St. Louis District 189 for 35 years. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, an active member of St. Augustine of Hippo and an member of the Linden Neighborhood Organization.

Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping, sports, concerts and stage shows. She also took pleasure in writing poetry and sketching.

On Friday November 20, 2020 God called his loving angel home. She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Bernice M. Howze, Nora A Gunns and Yvonne Cole. Her loving companion Freddie Biggs, Jr. A very special student who became a lifelong friend Rev. Dr. Rachel Jackson. Close friend Jacqueline Scaife. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
