Audrey Lynn Wayne , 67, of East Saint Louis, IL was born on August 5, 1954 , to Marion G. Wayne and James Coleman in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the eldest of seven children.
Audrey gave her life to Christ at an early age and served Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for many years in her youth. She worked as a Junior Usher in her pre-teen years, served as Secretary over the Sunday School Ministry for more than 5 years, and finally worked in the development and operations of the Food Pantry for about 5 years.
Audrey graduated from East Saint Louis Sr. High School in 1972 and went on to attend Southern Illinois University-Carbondale but later earned an Associate degree and worked as a Ward Clerk for State Community College of East St. Louis in 1982. In addition to this, Audrey worked as a Teller at The First National Bank and from there she served as a Clerk at The East Saint Louis Police Station. Some time following this, Audrey went on to work and retire at Nash Funeral Home as an office manager.
Audrey bore 3 children to whom she devoted her life; DeAndre, Tracey, and Chelsea. While she only had three children of her own, she raised and supported a host of siblings, nieces and nephews, and was loved by a slew of aunts, uncles and cousins through the end of her life. She enjoyed talking to her sisters and friends on the phone daily, watching church online, as well as a host game shows and sitcoms. Audrey was a news junky and enjoyed reading newspapers and watching the daily news at every hour it was available to watch.
She was loved and survived by her three children, De Andre Thompson (42), Tracey Wayne (37), and Chelsea Fox (29) along with one grandchild, Daniel Thompson (11); her siblings Eric (Karen) Wayne, Roshanda Wayne-Rogers, Tracey Wayne-Brown, Mark (Annie) Wayne, Terri (Alfred) Wayne-Robinson and Mario Wayne, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves to survive her 2 beloved uncles, James Edward (Carmen) Wayne and Reginald (Marita) Wayne Sr., and 2 aunts, Thelma Wayne and Fannie Wayne.
