Obituary

The life of Anthony "Tony" Taylor began on March 19, 1959 in Benton Harbor, MI. He was the oldest of five children born to Mr. & Mrs. Roy B. and Marvenious Garrett. Anthony Ray was named by his aunt, Dorothy Moon.

In elementary and junior high, Tony loved collecting and reading comic books. He would often draw his favorite cartoon characters like Archie & Friends, Captain America, Spider Man, Superman, etc.

In high school, Tony's interest changed to music, skating, and girls. When Tony wasn't skating, you could find him in the family music room listening to music. His favorite groups were Kool & The Gang and The Dramatics. Tony also joined the high school wrestling team and went on to state. Tony got his first job at G&W Skating Rink. Tony was also enlisted in the Army National Guard.

Family and close friends knew Tony by "Doo-Doo". This nickname was given to Tony by his brother Rocky and his father. This is the nickname his family called him to the end. He will always be our Doo-Doo.

After Tony wandered around for a bit, he found himself in East St. Louis where he met Linetta Robinson. Tony made East St. Louis his home.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Marvenious Garrett; his son, Antonio Brown, sister, Patricia Ann Montford, and brother, Melvin Garrett.

Tony is survived by his children, Dorian Holton-Garrett, Trevor Holton-Garrett, and Destiny Garrett; stepchildren, Teijuania Holton, Lashonda Smith, Natalie Reynold, Parthenia, Jamaica, Marcus, Shannon, and a host of grandchildren.
