Anthony
Fox
Dec 18, 1957 — Oct 31, 2021
Anthony Steven Fox was born on December 18, 1957 to Thelma Rice-McCallum and Willie E. Fox Sr. At a young age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. As a faithful member of Southern Mission Missionary Baptist Church, he served on the Junior Usher Board and other auxiliary groups. Fox, as he was affectionately called, was educated in the East St. Louis school system, graduating from East St. Louis Senior High School (East Side), class of 1976. Throughout his life he maintained an active role in any and all class of '76 activities.
After graduating from East Side, he wed Vanessa Rice and went on to start a career in restaurant management in Los Angeles, CA. He worked in the restaurant industry for many years before returning to East St. Louis where he and his sister, Linda, shared the responsibility of taking care of their mother before her passing.
Anthony was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family however he could. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he would often mention and show with his actions. He was unendingly proud of his daughters while always doing his best to support them. Fox loved bowling, entertaining and the city of East St. Louis, his home. His love for the City of East St. Louis was not a secret and anyone that crossed his path knew it. If you knew Anthony , you know he could make you laugh and at times he could make you cry, but all the while he was the most loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend anyone could ask for.
Anthony is proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Gerald McCallum, Celeste Fox, V. Donell Fox, and Xavier Agnew.
After a prolonged and debilitating illness, Anthony departed this life on October 31, 2021 in Marietta, GA. While his spirit was and will always be strong, the Lord ended his pain and suffering and freed him of his worldly body. He is survived by daughters Antoinette, Nakita, Byra, and Brittany (Kevin Echols), his siblings Shirley Zachery, Willie Fox Jr., Linda J. Stuckey, John Agnew Jr., his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and close friends.
